HOuse League - More information

The Peterborough Thunder Volleyball Club will be offering a Winter House League Development Volleyball Program for the 2023/24 Ontario Volleyball Association Season. The Program is based on sound Ontario Volleyball Long Term Athlete Development Principles.

House League sessions (practice and game play) will take place at Kenner Secondary School on Thursday evenings (Feb 22 to April 11- no session on March 14).

Sessions (Practice and Game Play): Thursdays: 7:45 to 9pm at Kenner High School

While most clubs focus only on competitive volleyball, the ultimate goal of the Peterborough Thunder Volleyball Club is to instill a love of the sport in as many of our youth as possible, and through that, build and maintain a competitive and successful club.

To this end, a Thunder League program was started in 2006 and is a key component of the ‘grass roots’ program. Girls and Boys between the ages of 11-15 are taught the skills of volleyball and exposed to game situations.

This year the Peterborough Thunder Volleyball Club will offer House League programs and is offering a follow up Winter House League Development Session for the following age groups:

  • U12 (born in 2012/13)
  • U13 (born in 2011)
  • U14 (born in 2010)
  • U15/16 (born in 2008/09)

Balanced teams with a variety of skills are assembled for House League practice and game play. Players learn individual skills and the importance of playing as a team and enjoying the sport for its own value.

Please note that each season since 2010, we have been forced to cap registration due to gym availability and the number of volunteer coaches. To avoid disappointment, early registration is strongly recommended.

We look forward to seeing Thunder house league athletes on the court for the winter session!
